Training Part 1

Sit & Down

Week 1 – Back to Basics: Sit & Down

Spot already knew how to sit and lie down. So why did we start there anyway?

Simple. Because knowing a command at home is very different from knowing it anywhere. And if we’re going to build real reliability with Brain Training for Dogs, we need a solid foundation.

Starting From Scratch (On Purpose)

Even though Spot has been doing “sit” and “down” for years, we decided to go back to basics. No shortcuts. Adrienne Farricelli’s approach in Brain Training for Dogs is built progressively for a reason – skip the foundation and you’ll pay for it later.

So we started indoors. Calm. Quiet. No distractions.

Spot nailed it every time. Good boy. 🐾

Turning Up the Difficulty

Then we moved things around a bit. Different rooms. Near the front door. In the kitchen while dinner was being prepared.

Suddenly “sit” wasn’t quite as automatic. Spot had to actually think about it – which is exactly the point.

This is where Brain Training for Dogs starts to shine. It’s not just about teaching commands – it’s about building a dog that can focus and respond even when the world around him is interesting.

What We Learned

The biggest takeaway from Week 1 is that consistency in different environments is everything. A dog that only sits in the living room isn’t really trained – he’s just comfortable.

We’re not looking for comfortable. We’re looking for reliable. 💪

Stay tuned for Week 2 – things are about to get more interesting and pics may follow.🧠🐾
